[ONLINE] Consumer Rights for Black Immigrant Survivors of Domestic Violence (Part 2): Generating Strategies and Solutions
[ONLINE] Consumer Rights for Black Immigrant Survivors of Domestic Violence (Part 2): Generating Strategies and Solutions
December 5, 2024 7:00 AM - 8:30 AM
Register here.
Black immigrant survivors contend not only with the challenges faced by other immigrant survivors, but also with anti-Black discrimination and racial prejudice. Currently, there exist limited culturally relevant and appropriate research and services, and limited understanding of the profound economic and consumer issues facing Black immigrant survivors. These factors contribute to their economic insecurity, putting Black immigrant survivors at greater risk of domestic violence. Black immigrant survivors need culturally relevant, survivor-centered consumer rights advocacy. This roundtable will generate that, through sharing and dialogue. At this roundtable, we will:
- Examine the landscape of economic and consumer issues facing Black immigrant survivors based on the findings from our previous listening session and other research.
- Discuss consumer rights and remedies for Black immigrant survivors.
- Share and lift up innovative advocacy strategies (legal and nonlegal) to help Black immigrant survivors address their economic and consumer needs.
- Build partnerships that are expansive and increase access to services and economic resources for Black immigrant survivors.
